  • 2. HOW IS MOBILE EXERCISE HELPFUL?

First, we come to you—your home or your work. In the safety and comfort of a climate-controlled van, dogs can exercise at their own pace. This can meet general exercise, specific training, weight loss, rehabilitation, socialization, or behavioral needs for dogs of all sizes and ages. We can work with your vet to develop a customized program. A session can break up boredom for a dog alone at home during the day.

  • 3. WHO ARE YOUR CUSTOMERS?

Pet owners with dogs are athletes who struggle to get enough high-intensity workouts on their own. Some have health issues precluding them from exercising their dog (illness, joint pain, surgery). Busy people! Those concerned about working out their pet in hot/cold/rainy weather. Those who want their dog(s) to have new experiences or whose dogs may be exhibiting destructive behavior due to lack of exercise. Dogs who need to lose weight.

  • 4. HOW SAFE IS IT?

We recommend discussing your pet's fitness and health with their vet prior to use. Slatmills have brakes, so momentum can be stopped for any issue. Some dogs with special needs are not safe to run or walk outdoors (blindness, balance, old age, reactiveness), so this can be a safe alternative. The dog controls the speed and can stop at any time.

  • 5. HOW DO THEY START?

There is a learning curve, just as there is for humans starting on a treadmill: new equipment, new environment, and new people.  Most dogs begin slowly until they get used to us and understand that the slat mill moving under them is safe.  For some, this is only a few minutes; others take multiple sessions to get comfortable.  When they do - watch them run and the happy faces that result!  We often take pictures or videos of their fun.

  • 6. SHOULDN'T DOGS GO FOR A WALK OUTSIDE?

We encourage traditional walks for exercise, but honestly, most humans cannot maintain an adequate pace to provide a cardio workout for their dog, certainly not a full-speed workout. Dogs love to run! For mental stimulation, we also encourage sniff walks for dogs to explore their neighborhood, but this provides only mental stimulation, not the heart-pumping exercise dogs need. During the hottest Summer months in AZ, exercising outside is unsafe for most dogs.

  • 7. SO, HOW DOES IT ALL WORK?

Schedule a session (30 min. recommended for most) on our page here or text us at 480-977-1464. Complete the Information/Release Form. Then we come to you. At first, it is recommended that you be home so your pet feels comfortable getting started, but eventually, we can do sessions while you are away. This is a good way to get your pup some excitement if she is left home for any length of time.

  • 8. ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD KNOW?

We will text you to confirm your appointment time. Please give your dog(s) a potty break before the session and make sure they have been getting plenty of water before Mobile Dog Runners arrive. Also, please be sure claws have been recently trimmed for your pet's comfort. Plan for your participating dog to be quite tired after a session. It usually will lay down to nap to recover. It is best not to feed for an hour after the session.

  • 9. I HAVE MORE THAN 1 DOG THAT WOULD LIKE THIS. CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE MORE?

Yes! Our vans are equipped with up to four slatmills. However, for safety reasons, we require that the dogs be from the same house or, if neighbors, that the dogs know each other and get along. We offer discounts for running multiple dogs at the same time. So, you should check with your neighbors to see if they are interested. Dogs do very well in groups.

  • 10. WHAT IF I NEED TO RESCHEDULE?

We understand things can happen. Sessions can be rescheduled or canceled with at least 12 hours' notice. Within 12 hours, we must charge 50% of the fee since we budgeted that time slot for you and won't find another customer. Cancellations within an hour or no-shows will be billed the total amount.  In extenuating circumstances less than 12 hours, text Royle at 480-977-1464.
